What happens during my first visit to one of the centres?

You will be welcomed by our Customer Service Representative and invited to register as a new participant by entering information which helps us to serve you better, into our Kiosk.  We will provide a  tour of the  Resource Centre and introduction to the attending staff members. They will be happy to answer your questions and provide assistance.  We will also have you fill out some paperwork to help start to determine your eligibility for the programs and services that we offer.

What types of activities are considered “work search” related?

“Work search” is a broad term that includes activities such as: checking online or newspapers for employment openings, researching companies you might be interested in, networking in your community/industry, dropping off resumes, using career related social media sites, attending workshops, participating in job interviews, keeping up on your local labour market information/events, cold calling employers/agencies and in some cases volunteering may also be included. Generally, “being available” and ensuring that employers understand your skills, experience and personality and how they match different jobs is vital to looking for work.

Is there a fee for this service?

Services are free to anyone unemployed and eligible to work in Canada.
